WHAT IS “STOP SMART METERS!”?

Growing out of the grassroots group Scotts Valley Neighbors Against Smart Meters, which was started in June, Stop Smart Meters! is now a community supported statewide advocacy, media outreach, and direct action group providing activism consultation, technical assistance advice to dozens of local groups statewide (and now nationally and even internationally) who are fighting the wireless ‘smart’ meter assault.

Smart Meter Safety Coalition

This website, a production of the Smart Meter Safety Coalition, seeks to inform and educate residents about Central Maine Power’s smart meter program, which comprises involuntary installation of a wireless network of meters, routers and nodes that emit non-ionizing radio wave frequency — currently under investigation by the World Health Organization as a possible carcinogen.

San Francisco CPUC Demonstrations and Speakers: February 24th, 2011; March 10th, 2011

Individuals and organizations opposing the rollout of Smart Meters in San Francisco and elsewhere in California gathered at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) building at 505 Van Ness Avenue (at McAllister, near City Hall) in San Francisco Thursday, February 24th to testify before a meeting of the CPUC in the morning.  39 individuals spoke, with one minute each. Two new commissioners were appointed by Gov. Brown and the demonstrators feel it is critical to hear from them.  The Governor was urged to remove Michael Peevey, President, CPUC.  A protest was held following the meeting in the early afternoon.

NOTE: Speakers very concerned about Smart Meter health effects, privacy, and security also presented at meetings from the past 9 months and on March 10th, 2011. To access these meetings click link for archived meeting videos, below.
